What personal data we collect and why we collect it

Comments

When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.

An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.

Media

If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.

Cookies

If you leave a comment on our site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.

If you visit our login page, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.

When you log in, we will also set up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. If you select "Remember Me", your login will persist for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed.

If you edit or publish an article, an additional cookie will be saved in your browser. This cookie includes no personal data and simply indicates the post ID of the article you just edited. It expires after 1 day.

Embedded content from other websites

Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.

These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.

Analytics

Who we share your data with

If you request a password reset, your IP address will be included in the reset email.

How long we retain your data

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

For users that register on our website (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.

What rights you have over your data

If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

Where we send your data

Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service.

The Protection of Personal Information Act (or POPI Act) is South Africa's equivalent of the EU GDPR. It sets some conditions for responsible parties (called controllers in other jurisdictions) to lawfully process the personal information of data subjects (both natural and juristic persons).

The Protection of Personal Information Act (aka POPIA) is coming into effect on 1 July 2021. The act requires that we obtain your consent to communicate with you in the future.

This could be in the form of new product updates, tips, software updates, and more.

If you are happy to keep receiving emails from us there's no need to do anything. If you change your mind at any time in the future simply email us from our contact us page.

If you wish to be removed from our mailing list, simply email us from our contact page.

AI & Security Policy

How We Protect - and Grow - Your Business

Last Updated: 22 February 2026

In today’s digital economy, transparency is the foundation of trust.

We use Artificial Intelligence and advanced automation responsibly to protect your data, improve performance, and help your business grow — without ever compromising security or privacy.

This policy explains how we implement AI-driven systems and layered security across our WordPress, WooCommerce, and managed hosting environments.

1. Our Commitment to Ethical AI

AI enhances our 21+ years of development experience — it does not replace it.

We follow strict compliance with:

  • POPIA (South Africa)
  • GDPR (global data protection standards)

Our principles:

  • Human oversight over every AI-driven process
  • Data privacy by design
  • Fully auditable systems
  • No data resale to third-party AI training platforms

Your business data — and your customers’ data — remain yours.

2. The Invisible Shield

AI-Powered Security Architecture

We follow a Defense-in-Depth strategy. That means security operates on multiple layers — from server level to application level — creating overlapping protection.

Server-Side Security

(Managed Hosting & cPanel Environment)

Our hosting stack includes the WP Toolkit and AI-enhanced protection systems:

Imunify360

  • AI-based “Herd Protection”
  • Advanced malware scanning
  • Real-time threat detection
  • Proactive blocking of emerging threats

ModSecurity

  • AI-refined Web Application Firewall (WAF)
  • Filters malicious traffic in real time
  • Blocks suspicious requests before they reach WordPress

SSL Encryption

  • High-grade SSL certificates
  • End-to-end encrypted data transmission
  • Secure checkout and login environments

Application-Level Protection

(WordPress & WooCommerce)

Wordfence Security

  • Brute-force protection
  • Real-time IP blacklisting
  • AI-driven threat intelligence monitoring
  • Login and file integrity tracking

Automated Maintenance

  • Smart plugin and theme updates
  • Vulnerability patching
  • Core WordPress security monitoring
  • Managed via WP Toolkit

Your store remains protected, updated, and performance-optimized.

3. Transactional Integrity & Fraud Prevention

We integrate South Africa’s trusted payment gateways, including:

  • Paystack
  • Peach Payments
  • Payfast
  • Yoco

AI Fraud Detection

These providers use machine learning systems to:

  • Monitor transaction behavior
  • Detect suspicious patterns
  • Reduce fraudulent chargebacks
  • Flag unusual purchasing activity

Advanced fraud detection systems can reduce risk exposure significantly.

Zero-Knowledge Storage

  • No credit card information is stored on your server
  • All payment data is processed within PCI-compliant environments
  • Your hosting environment never handles raw card data

This dramatically reduces security liability.

4. Custom AI & Third-Party Integrations

Every build includes our Standard Security Stack:

  • Wordfence
  • Imunify360
  • ModSecurity
  • SSL Encryption

However, we understand that each business may require additional tools.

Premium AI & Security Plugins (Optional)

Upon request, we can install:

  • Advanced AI chatbots
  • Predictive inventory systems
  • Enhanced SEO automation tools
  • Additional firewall or monitoring layers

Professional Configuration

When a client selects a paid third-party plugin:

  • We handle installation
  • We configure it securely
  • We test compatibility
  • We ensure integration with existing security layers

Disclaimer & Limitation of Liability

Cyber threats continuously evolve. Malicious actors, automated bots, and emerging attack methods constantly attempt to exploit new vulnerabilities across the global internet.

While we implement industry-standard, multi-layered security measures and continuously monitor developments in cybersecurity, no system can be guaranteed to be completely immune from attack.

By using our services, you acknowledge and agree that:

  • Absolute security cannot be guaranteed.
  • We cannot be held liable for damages, data loss, service interruptions, or financial losses resulting from cyberattacks, third-party breaches, zero-day vulnerabilities, or force majeure events beyond our reasonable control.
  • Ongoing security is a shared responsibility between hosting provider, software vendors, third-party services, and the website owner.

Our commitment remains proactive protection, continuous updates, and responsible risk management - but cybersecurity risk can never be fully eliminated.
